Susanne Becker, PhD

Susanne Becker works as an assistant professor in the department of cognitive and clinical neuroscience at the Central Institute of Mental Health at Heidelberg University in Germany. She earned her PhD at the University of Mannheim, Germany, after which she was a postdoctoral researcher in Petra Schweinhardt’s lab at the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Becker investigates the interaction of pain and reward as two motivational systems and the underlying neurophysiological mechanisms of this interaction, focusing on functional brain responses and dopaminergic processes.
